Nursery Room Leader

Harlow

Early years teaching requires an enthusiastic, imaginative and energetic individual capable of gaining the full potential from each child.

The ideal person will come from a background where they have had to develop and implement lessons and work schemes, within the appropriate age and stage of development of the children. Liase with parents, staff, and other professionals

The suitable candidate will maintain a safe, secure and caring environment.

Main Duties:

  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum provided and identify areas for development
  • Ensure that planning and the organisation of a quality learning environment is carried out in line with the EYFS.
  • Settle new children and provide on-going support, under our key worker approach. To keep a register and up to date records of children attending your class
  • Work alongside parents of special needs children and give physical, emotional and intellectual guidance as appropriate and liaise with the nurseries SENCO.
  • Ensuring safe storage and appropriate access for all information.
  • To keep abreast of current Legislation and attend training as necessary.
  • To share responsibility for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all children and have a clear understanding of confidentiality.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures are adhered to and implemented in the nursery.
  • Recording accidents/incidents in the book provided.
  • Support all staff and engage in a good staff team at all levels.
  • Make recommendations and proposals about the service delivered.
  • To carry out any ad hoc projects or duties as requested by the manager
  • To take care of yourself and others and to comply with the nursery Health and Safety rules.
  • Participate in the training programme of a wide variety of students (ie placements and volunteers) by giving guidance and support.

Key interfaces:

  • Ideally level 4 otherwise Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Good level of literacy and numeracy
  • Paediatric first aid
  • At least one year of experience working in a setting with children 0-5
  • Knowledge of the EYFS, record keeping and key worker system
  • Safeguarding level 2
