The company is the UK's leading waste-to-energy biodiesel producer with operations in Scotland and North West England and has always been privately owned. Their main plant, near Motherwell in Scotland, started production in 2005. Following significant investment to facilitate growth and development, a number of facilities have been built in the Stanlow area. The Company specialises in the production and supply of high grade, sustainable diesel made from waste fats and oils deliberately excluding any raw materials that could also be used for food or feed.

Purpose of the Role:

Responsible for the safe & effective operation of the Stanlow HP cleaning unit at the Stanlow Phase 2 site and for general cleanliness and tidiness of the facility & associated heat exchangers.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Clean and tidy POP Plant, yard and outside areas
  • Using fork lift truck around site, following appropriate safety procedures
  • Utilise a variety of relatively simple hand tools with limited control adjustments ensuring safety standards are adhered to at all times.
  • Daily Bund and Sump Checks - looking for spillages and full sumps, investigating source of material in sumps and checking drain covers are in place and not needing repair.
  • Conduct general area & facility cleanliness and litter management.
  • Complete general housekeeping duties
  • Loading and offloading of chemical deliveries and supplies, as directed by site management
  • Control and manage of waste IBC and waste collection

Health and Safety:

  • Ensure a thorough knowledge of your Health & Safety responsibilities.
  • Always wear Personal Protective Equipment as required. Take responsibility for your own PPE ensuring appropriate storage and care.
  • Always strive to work in a manner safe to yourself and others and report any hazards immediately.
  • Actively participate in addressing Safety, Health and Environmental issues affecting the production areas, ensuring the relevant S, H&E checks are carried out.
  • Full knowledge of the Plant Emergency Procedures and associated responses are required.

Qualifications/ Knowledge & Experience:

  • Trained fork lift (counter balance) driver
  • Previous experience of similar cleaning duties and/or specific heat exchanger cleaning ( with HP cleaner , ZIP system ) would be advantageous
  • Physical requirements include regular lifting within the guidelines of safe handling procedures. Manual handling training will be required.
  • Working at height, plus wearing of safety equipment for different activities will be required.
  • Candidates should be outgoing, motivated, and can endure outside working conditions year round
