FINANCIAL CONTROLLER LEICESTER £39-41K
Our client, a high profile "not for profit" organisation, is seeking to appoint a Financial Controller to their small friendly team.
Responsibilities
*Production of financial reports and monthly management accounts for the company and its subsidiaries.
* Monthly management accounts to include detailed commentary.
*To provide a continuous source of financial expertise to budget holders.
*Production of consolidated Group management accounts.
*The preparation of financial models to articulate business ideas to enable strategic business decisions to be made with a clear understanding of financial impact
Knowledge and Skills
*Develop and prepare key financial reports to form part of statutory accounts and reports.
*Participation in and facilitation of statutory audits
*Apply income recognition rules under FRS102 (SORP) and ensure that they are correctly adhered to
*Design and prepare internal audit plans and measure progress against plans
*Design budgeting and forecasting models and processes
*Ensuring VAT rules, insofar as it relates to income and expenditure in a partially exempt organisation, are applied and adhered to
*Advise senior managers and budget holders on complex financial problems
*Identify and resolve technical accounting issues
*Interpret and analyse financial information and explain information to others
*Managing external relationships with auditors and professional advisors
Person Specification
* Professionally Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ACMA) with at least 3 years post qualification experience.
* Working knowledge of VAT and how it relates to partially exempt business with an understanding of how VAT relates to different income streams
* Use of accounting software such as SAGE
* Preparation and reporting of group consolidations
* Ability to meet deadlines
*The successful candidate may have worked in Practice at Audit Senior/Manager level, but this is not a prerequisite.
* A broad understanding of FRSs
