IT Technician

St John's is a specialist school and college offering high quality education and care for young people aged 7-25 with a wide range of special educational needs.
We are currently looking to recruit the following position:
Title: IT Technician
Hours: 40 hours per week - Monday to Friday 8.30-16.00
Salary: GBP17,561 per annum
Base: St. John's School and College (Brighton and Seaford)
The successful applicant will provide crucial support to the IT Manager and be pivotal in expanding our IT facilities across the organisation. The successful candidate will have a broad range of duties including:
* Perform basic network diagnostics, check for potential faults. Diagnose and repair most PC, printer and peripheral device faults, especially those likely to impact on teaching
* Acting as 1st /2nd level support and provide some user training for IT equipment
* Install new hardware/software
* Set up laptops and projectors. Ensure touchscreens/large screens/IWB/sound systems are ready for use and operating correctly
* Assist in maintaining the outlook exchange, MiS, BB Services and other databases
* Assist in researching and testing emerging technology, virtualization technology and hardware
* Assist in solving Cloud (especially terminal server) issues. Monitor and log user feedback on the Cloud. With particular emphasis on how to improve it for staff
* Maintain inventory of IT hardware/software. Perform basic stock keeping of consumable items
* Assist with examination and tests where required
