Valero Terminal Operator - Plymouth

(24 hour/7 day a week operation)

Competitive Salary £32,000+ dependant on experience

Shift Allowance £5,000 pa

Lunch Allowance £900 pa

In conjunction with the Terminal Manager, oversee the safe receipt and distribution of refined petroleum product, and to account for the movements of this product.

  • The Terminal Operator’s duties shall include controlling inward and outward movement of products, monitoring plant status and responding appropriately to alarm conditions by following operational and emergency response procedures.
  • Participates in analysing all terminal systems and supports changes to increase terminal efficiency, improve safety, reduce the unit cost and maintain customer service.
  • To ensure that plant remains in a safe state and abnormal conditions investigated and addressed effectively.

To ensure that operations meet the requirements of legislation and documented Valero standards and procedures.

  • Adheres to the documented Valero standards and procedures for the storage, handling and quality control of all products, and to work with terminal management ensuring continual improvement.
  • Participates in regular performance observations, internal / external audits and meetings to implement methods of improving the level of service provided by the terminal and the department to both internal and external customers.
  • Ensures that the level of training and record keeping of all terminal users is to the standard required to achieve an accident free record.

Ensures that the Terminal operates to the requirements of legislation and Valero documented procedures regarding all matters of safety, security and the environment to minimise the risk of prosecution, accidents and pollution.

  • Ensures that all trained contractors understand and comply with the Risk Assessment, Method Statements and Permits to Work complying with Health & Safety regulations.
  • Carries out regular site inspection, process monitoring and performance observations ensuring that facilities are operated in a manner that provides a safe environment for employees and contractors.
  • Undertake routine housekeeping and maintenance duties as appropriate
