Locations: Nationwide

Organised crime is one of the most serious threats to the UK. It can devastate communities, ruin lives, and costs the UK taxpayer over £20 billion every year. We lead the fight to disrupt and bring to justice the most serious offenders, safeguard victims and protect the public.

About the role

Joining the NCA as an Experienced Investigator, you’ll use innovative approaches and ground-breaking techniques to help disrupt and bring to justice criminals who present the highest threat to the UK. Working as part of a talented team, you’ll collect and develop intelligence and evidence to build and contribute to case file preparation to prosecute offenders. You may be required to deploy as a surveillance operative, demanding full flexibility and the ability to work long hours at short notice. By applying for this role, you’re confirming that you’re willing to work on child sexual exploitation and abuse operations.

As an Intelligence Officer, you will develop intelligence, conduct research and analysis in support of the NCA’s Annual Plan and National Control Strategy in the fight to cut serious and organised crime. You’ll carry out cross-source data exploitation, analysis, delivery and dissemination of intelligence, working with other departments and external partners.

About you

All our Experienced Investigators are required to hold a ‘Professionalising Investigation Programme’ investigative skills at level 2 (PIP2) accreditation. You will also have knowledge of how to obtain and conduct search warrants, arrests and interview witnesses. We’d like you to show us your experience with the seizure of exhibits, continuity of evidence and seize/shift legislation, as well as where you’ve completed case files in liaison with prosecuting agencies. Tier 2 or 3 interview training, ABE training, SCAIDP training and Operational Skills Training (SOS) stage 1 and 2 would all be useful.

As an Experience Intelligence Officer, you’ll hold an Intelligence Professionalisation Programme (IPP) accreditation or NIAT certificate. You’ll also have a basic understanding of the use of intelligence and evidence by law enforcement agencies, knowledge of intelligence collection methods and understanding of relevant legislation, including CPIA and ECHR. Good understanding of information management and data integrity issues is essential, as is experience researching and gathering information from a wide variety of sources. Open Source Level 2 or 3, i2 Mapping software skills, CycComms, RIPA, CPIA Disclosure and knowledge of crypto currencies would all be useful.
