What it's about
We have a vacancy as a Commercial Analyst in the Cambridge Assessment English's Operations team. These are exciting times as we are currently modernising our systems and processes and are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic, dynamic and customer-focused Analyst who will thrive in this changing environment.

What you'll be doing
This role encompasses a range of tasks and responsibilities. Reporting to an Assistant Director, you will:
  • Provide insights, analysis and accurate information on Cambridge English processing costs
  • Present data findings in a user friendly manner
  • Analyse trends and variances, advising and influencing senior management to aid the understanding of the impact of operational performance
  • Create and review high quality and accurate process costs to enable operations to find efficiencies
  • Provide data support for business cases, project submissions and analyse data related to these
  • To assist with budget building and monitoring of budgets throughout the financial year
  • Assist the department to have a key focus on data gathering and demonstrating its findings
  • To establish an accurate costings calculator for new products and initiatives to be priced effectively

What we're looking for
You should have a collaborative approach to your work, have strong analytical skills and be highly commercial and good with numbers. You will be able to work unsupervised and to demanding deadlines and have excellent attention to detail. You should also have the ability to understand complex processes quickly and have a logical approach to work.

Purpose of the Job:
To provide analysis and management information to senior managers, to demonstrate the underpinning Cambridge English direct and indirect costs for the different processes in operations. The data should also be able to be used to report accurate information about the operating costs of individual products. To ensure that this data is accurately maintained and able to be manipulated to provide further information as requested.

Principal Accountabilities:

• To be responsible for providing insights, analysis and accurate information on Cambridge English processing costs, using data obtained from multiple sources (including Finance, pre and post exam operating direct and indirect costs)

• To be able to present data findings in a user friendly and meaningful report

• To analyse trends and variances, advising and influencing senior management to aid the understanding of the impact of operational performance

• Create and review high quality and accurate process costs to enable operations to find efficiencies

• To provide data to support business cases and project submissions as required. This could include analysing data from 3rd party suppliers and providing detailed information on the findings including providing a cost benefit analysis

• To assist with building of budgets for the next financial year and provide support as required to monitoring budget usage throughout the year

• Assist the senior management of Operations as necessary to ensure it continues to be a department of excellence, with a focus on data gathering and adding value by synthesizing this data into meaningful reports

• To establishing an accurate costings calculator to allow operational processes for new products and initiatives to be priced effectively

Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Behaviours:

Qualifications

Essential:
• Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
• Experience of complex processes and procedures
• Flexibility and adaptability
• Excellent oral and written communicator
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work effectively under pressure
• Ability to think strategically
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft office products
• High standard of spoken and written English

Desirable:
• MBA or similar business qualification
• Knowledge of the Cambridge English product range
• Good overview of Cambridge English business aims and objectives

Skills:
• Strong analytical skills
• Highly numerate
• Excellent attention to detail
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word
• Good report writing ability and communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills

Experience:
• Several years' experience of commercial analysis and the use of the complex business analysis tools/techniques and reporting systems

Behaviours:
