Main duties and responsibilities: What we'll challenge you with?

You will join a team of AI, machine learning, and big data graduates from the very top Universities world-wide, that all share a deep passion for both engineering and science. We take a highly collaborative approach and expect team members to help out where they feel they can contribute and enjoy doing so, all the while contributing to the team's core mission. You will take ownership of

• Design and development of classifiers for the large-scale classification, extraction, and understanding of web pages, their fragments, and specific structures on those pages

• Verifying and improving our training data - we have easily one of the largest corpus of training data for structured data extraction from the web including hundreds of thousands of sources and the ability to automatically generate new training data for previously unknown sources - and we want you to help improve this process even further

• Integrating user and implicitly gathered feedback into a flexible retraining framework including the ability to adjust the resulting classifiers

• Continually define your role as we grow.

Skills, qualifications and experience: Selection Criteria

Our ideal candidate has (essential criteria):

• 3+ years of experience with large-scale applications of AI technologies or equivalent academic background, as witnessed by substantial contributions to large-scale AI systems or equivalent published peer-reviewed work

• 2+ years of experience with practical deployment and maintenance of ML systems, as witnessed by substantial operational contributions to such systems.

• Experience in designing large-scale systems, as witnessed by substantial contributions to systems processing millions of data items at production-level

• Experience and passion for finding solutions to problems that haven't been solved before

• Feels passionately about software quality and takes pride in their work

• Believes in validation through software and rapid prototyping

• Fluent in English (verbal and written) and loves to work, learn, and teach others

• Driven and self-reliant, without losing track of the "big picture"

Bonus points for (desirable criteria):

• Experience in applications of ML to web sites and/or documents

• Experience with ontology or conceptual modelling

• Strong background in Java, e.g., through contributions to an open-source project

• Experience in designing and developing REST APIs
