The problems we solve in the Cambridge Speech &Language Technology team help Alexa get smarter by understanding thedifferent ways people talk and by responding in the most natural waypossible in multiple languages.This will require methods that lie beyond the cutting edge academic andindustrial research of today, at internet-level scale, in automaticspeech recognition (ASR) and natural language understanding (NLU). As ascientist on the team, your role is to design these methods and bringthem to the millions of customers who use Alexa every day.BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Graduate degree (Masters or PhD) in Computer Science, Engineering,Mathematics, Computational Linguistics, or a related field Knowledge of a relevant field of research, such as Machine Learning,Statistical Modelling, Natural Language Understanding, MachineTranslation, Automatic Speech Recognition Good coding skills. Experience in Python or Java is a plus; Good communication skills and the ability of working in a team.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Explicit (industry or academic) experience with natural languageunderstanding, speech recognition or dialogue management Academic record of refereed publications in top tier conferences or journals Expertise any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures,parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel and distributed computing - provided by Dice COMPUTER SCIENCE, DATA MINING, DEGREE, INTERNET, JAVA, MACHINE LEARNING, MATHEMATICS, PHD, PYTHON
