THE ROLE We are recruiting a Financial Compliance Officer to work as part of our Finance department based in our Sheffield office. The role is part of a newly created team bringing together all aspects of international finance compliance. The Financial Compliance Officer will be responsible for supporting the International Financial Compliance team to develop an effective compliance culture within DLA Piper on financial accounting policies and procedures. This role will be based in our Sheffield office but you may be expected to travel as and when required as part of your role. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES To contribute to the development of a full suite of international accounting policies Perform regular review and updating of these accounting policies to ensure that they stay up to date with relevant legislation and changes to the business and ensure changes are appropriately communicated Collate the financial reporting requirements for the international network and create effective communications to ensure all teams are aware of the requirements Monitoring compliance with monthly and annual accounting reporting including monthly checklist, annual reconciliations Support the Senior Financial Compliance Officer with the documentation of review visits where necessary Maintain an international register of issues for consideration by firm management which highlights main risk areas in this area of compliance Support the Senior Finance Compliance Officer to develop and deliver training on key areas by the identification of generic issues which need training or new regulations Provide advice and training on a range of compliance issues to emphasise the 'why' of compliance as well as the 'how' SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES Have experience of developing a strong control environment within the legal sector Have the ability to report with clarity on the issues identified and actions needed to resolve those issues Be able to build and maintain strong productive relationships with the international finance teams Be able to make clear assessments on the priority and importance of reporting THE FIRM DLA Piper is a global law firm with lawyers located in more than 40 countries throughout the Americas, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.
