The Role

The Estates & Facilities Department has the following vacancy for the role of Facilities Assistant covering Brighton District:

1 x full time (37 hrs)

The core hours of the Facilities service span 07:30 until 17:00 and all staff are expected to provide minimum cover to ensure resource availability for the start and end of each day.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, multi-skilled and self-motivated individual to work as part of our local Facilities Site Management Team delivering a flexible, responsive and multi-disciplined service across a range of facilities functions. This will include - administrative tasks; courier and logistics for transporting and tracking items between various locations; porterage; office moves and improvements; reception of visitors and contractors; environmental and waste management; and general site maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities

A key aspect of this role will be to support H&S statutory and advisory compliance relating to our buildings, whilst ensuring that our customers have a safe and pleasant environment in which to work.

Skills & Experience

We are seeking applications from self-motivated individuals who can plan, organise and prioritise their workloads in order to achieve deadlines. The post holder must be able to work unsupervised in a small team and have excellent communication skills. Knowledge and awareness of Health & Safety legislation would be an advantage although full training will be provided.

The successful candidate must be physically fit for manual handling activities, be able to drive a range of vehicles, including vans and pass a basic police driving assessment. Full manual handling training will be given.
