The Physio Tech role is a position to support our experienced qualified Physiotherapist in delivering a range of physio interventions across Capel Grange Nursing Home in Newport.

The post holder will assume responsibility for delegated aspects of healthcare delivery, working within a scope of practice under the direction/supervision of a registered physiotherapist. They will work within relevant legal and ethical frameworks and in accordance with organisational protocols and policies.

The Physio Technician will be proficient, knowledgeable and competent, with experience of operating in a physio role with an elderly patient group, either within a hospital or care home setting, or within the community. They will develop in their role through the acquisition of further skills, knowledge and competences, to be determined by the needs of client, the service and the team.

Duties to include:

•Work under direct supervision of the physiotherapist being responsible for a delegated workload.

•Implement therapeutic intervention to a designated caseload :

E.g.

a. Therapeutic exercises

b. Participation in treatment activity

c. Dealing with distressing/sensitive issues

•To ensure clients and carers are an integral part of their treatment planning and goal setting.

•To be responsible for issuing of standard equipment, whilst demonstrating an awareness of local cost implications.

•To ensure that up to date written and electronic records, reports and activity data are maintained in accordance with professional and Linc standards.

•To adhere to national and local manual handling guidelines.

•To support the work of the registered practitioners in the team.

•To prepare client for and assist with clinical/therapeutic activities or treatments.
