Primary class teacher required for August 2018

Are you looking for an opportunity to work in a ‘good’ school, which makes a real difference to children’s lives? This is a great opportunity to develop your career and have a substantial impact upon children’s learning.

Oakfield Short Stay School is a nurturing school where children enjoy learning in a safe and stimulating environment.

Our school takes primary aged children from across Leicestershire who have been, or are at risk of, being permanently excluded and supports their individual needs.

Our aim is to successfully reintegrate children back into a mainstream school in two terms, with continued support for a further term.

There have been recent senior leadership changes and the school is now embarking on a new era with great positivity, possibility and determination.

All our teaching staff are fully devoted to the goal of working together to move the school to ‘outstanding’. The school benefits from continuing to be part of Leicestershire County Council, and has very close links with the county’s inclusion team. Our curriculum mirrors that of a primary school, but with a well-developed supportive, nurturing approach that meets the social and emotional needs of our pupils. In addition we offer exciting physical, creative and outdoor learning opportunities to interest and engage our pupils. Your ideas to continue to improve learning will be readily received.

This opportunity would suit a dynamic, excellent classroom practitioner looking to develop and deepen their teaching practice. You will be supported by a dedicated and experienced leadership team, intervention teachers and skilled teaching assistants to improve outcomes for all children.

As your skills develop and are proven, you will be expected to mentor teachers in mainstream schools who accept our children. An additional TLR 2A will be paid for this.

This position is to commence on 31 August 2018.

We are looking for someone who:
• has high expectations of pupil progress;
• is passionate about education and developing a love of learning in children;
• has the skills to work collaboratively with our teaching team;
• can build positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents;
• has a commitment to professional development;

• is able to mentor and pass on their skills to other teachers.

In return, the successful candidate will:
• work in a rewarding, but challenging environment;
• be joining a strong, supportive team of professionals;
• work in a school with high aspirations for all of its pupils and staff;
• develop leadership skills, to move to the next level in their careers.

Applications must be with us by 12.00 p.m. on Friday 11th May 2018.

Visits to the school are really encouraged and to do so contact Bob Ricketts on Tel: 0116 305 2709 or email: robert.ricketts@leics.gov.uk

This post is the subject of a DBS enhanced check for a regulated activity.
