About Gowling WLG Gowling WLG is an international law firm created by Gowlings, a leading Canadian law firm, and Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co (WLG), a leading UK-based international law firm. We built Gowling WLG to provide clients with legal services at home and around the world, and to help you succeed no matter how challenging the circumstances. Gowling WLG clients have access to in-depth expertise in key global sectors along with a top-tier suite of legal services. With more than 1,400 legal professionals across offices in 18 cities worldwide and specialised expertise in countries around the globe, we're positioned to help clients rise to the challenges they face - both today and tomorrow. About the Team The Energy Sector is a key growth area for Gowling WLG and the Real Estate practice is a vital part of our cross-firm offering to clients. We act for many of the leading names in the energy sector, working on projects across a range of technologies, including solar, CHP, wind, peaking plant and landfill gas. We advise on projects at all stages in the life cycle of an asset from acquisition, development, financing, refinancing and disposals, whether individually or as part of larger portfolio arrangements. The energy market in the UK is changing. We are moving to a more flexible, smarter, de-centralised model meaning the team is engaged in innovative new projects, typically driven by a combination of environmental (for example a desire to reduce carbon footprints) and economic (both supply security and financial) factors. Our clients include landowners, operators, generators and investors. A trusted adviser, we are regularly brought in to lead on high-value and complex deals and projects. What it's like to work with us Our team is small enough so that you feel an important part of it, but spans the firm and is large enough so that it can and does undertake very high quality work. We have a non-hierarchical structure in which everyone shares the same working environment and there are no closed doors. Everyone takes pride in what they do, which means that things just get done, well. Working in an international law firm that deals with demanding work is challenging, but we like to have a life outside of work too. We have adopted an agile working policy that really helps you work around your own circumstances; whether that involves flexibility around core hours or working from home. There is a wide array of training courses available to all depending on your needs. We also have monthly property update training sessions, run by our senior fee earners.
