Job Description Hydrotherapy Pool Technician & Physiotherapy Assistant (dual role)
GBP17,102 per annum fte
35 hours per week
We are looking for a Hydrotherapy Pool Technician & Physiotherapy Assistant to work in a dual role across the Physiotherapy department as well maintaining the running of our hydrotherapy facility. Our Physiotherapy service delivers a high quality service to learners and citizens with a wide range of disabilities including Autism, Cerebral Palsy and Learning Difficulties. The Physiotherapy service operates one of the UKs largest Hydrotherapy facilities.
As part of the dual role you will work 15 hours per week around the pool and 20 hours in the gym. You will work as part of a team of Physiotherapists and Physiotherapy Assistants supporting to deliver high quality therapy programmes. You must hold or be willing to work towards a Level 3 NVQ, or Diploma in a healthcare related subject. You will be responsible for maintenance and running of the pool and plant room. As such, you will hold a pool plant operator's certificate - current or within past year.
You must ensure that hydrotherapy work areas are kept tidy and equipment cleaned regularly as per the pool protocol, ensure all equipment is safe to use and report any faulty equipment to the Physiotherapy Manager. You will ensure that the pool is maintained to a very high standard promoting its long term usage. You will be responsible in ensuring that all equipment used in the pool is done so correctly and safely as per departmental protocols and have overall accountability for the pool area, in the absence of the Physiotherapy Manager. You will ensure that the pool is suitable and safe for use, whenever it is required.
You will assist the Physiotherapists with the rehabilitation of students, using a range of delegated exercises and manual physical therapy treatments. You will treat students individually or in a group, in accordance with treatment protocols, or as directed by the qualified physiotherapists and you will undertake physiotherapy work i.e. supervising classes. You will encourage students to partake in an active approach to regaining and maintaining independence and use effective and appropriate communication skills, to assist with treatment programmes, especially for students who may have difficulty understanding exercises. You will assist in the treatment of students as delegated by the Physiotherapist within the pool area and support the assessment of student progress, reporting back to the Physiotherapist.
