Applications are invited for an experienced IT Support Team Leader to join the Information and Computing Services Group (ICS) based at the Department of Engineering's main site in Trumpington Street.

The IT Support Team Leader will be responsible for delivering front line IT Services and support across the Department.  You will work as part of a team to provide service desk, desktop support and user administration services for staff, students and visitors. In addition to support services, you will work closely with Infrastructure and Research IT staff to support users and deliver IT projects. As part of the extended ICS management team you will be part of developing IT strategy for the Department.

You will manage a team of IT staff providing user support functions including service desk, desktop support, user administration and printing services to the Department of Engineering. You will be working alongside your team providing first and second line support, triaging incidents and requests and escalating to the relevant teams when required. The role is also expected to take responsibility for developing processes, procedures and tools to effectively deliver front line user services.

ICS provides a unified departmental service with flexibility to meet the Department's evolving strategic and operational needs. Staff are assigned a technical, divisional, service or geographic area but this is flexible and can change in accordance to demand. Staff work together in teams to deliver projects and services.

You will be educated to Degree level/Level 7, or have an equivalent level of experience. The role requires someone with demonstrable experience of IT, leadership and management; evidence of acquiring an understanding of, and applying the potential of new technology to deliver business results; evidence of sharing technical knowledge and skills to increase the available pool of skilled staff; and evidence of managing virtual teams for quality results and operational experience of IT service management and best practice.  In addition to this, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required, an ability to work as a highly pro-active, persuasive and enthusiastic team member, together with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels of the organisation.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
