A starting salary of up to point 3 may be considered for exceptional candidates.

This post can be based in any of our Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) offices: Llandudno Junction, Carmarthen or Merthyr.

This post involves undertaking scrutiny, review and inspection activity pan Wales, and will therefore require travel with some periods of staying away from home and, at times, unsocial hours.

An allowance of £1,000 per year is available if you use your own car and cover in excess of 2,000 statutory miles per year.

CIW is the independent regulator of social care and childcare.  CIW registers, inspects and takes action to improve the quality and safety of services for the well-being of the people of Wales. Local Authority Inspection is a key function in the delivery of safe, high quality social care services to the citizens of Wales.  The role of Inspection Manager – Local Authority Inspection is critical to providing assurance and driving improvement in the quality of social care services.

The primary tasks of the Inspection manager - Local Authority Inspection team is to support and assist the senior manager in the scrutiny, review and inspection of local authorities.   The Inspection Manager will assist and support the Senior Manager in the effective, timely and efficient delivery of an agreed national programme of work. 

A key aspect of the role will be to lead engagement with people who use social care services and carers.

Inspection Managers will be responsible to a Senior Manager. They will have a critical function to perform to ensure the effective and timely delivery of CIW’s core responsibilities across the full spectrum of work with local authorities.

Inspections will be carried out across Wales.

Job Specific Criteria required for this post:

• A recognised Social Care qualification such as a Diploma in Social Work (or Social Care Wales equivalent), nursing or allied health care qualification, a teaching qualification or educated to degree level and have Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Services (or education equivalent) and an ability to demonstrate the relevance of this qualification to the role.  
• Experience of relevant post qualifying experience of services for adults, older people or children.
• Experience of local authority social services at senior practitioner level and/or experience of carrying out inspections

Tasgau craidd y Rheolwr Arolygu – Tîm Arolygu Awdurdodau Lleol yw cefnogi a chynorthwyo'r uwch-reolwr yn y gwaith o adolygu, arolygu a chraffu ar awdurdodau lleol.   Bydd y Rheolwr Arolygu yn cynorthwyo ac yn cefnogi'r uwch-reolwr i gyflawni rhaglen genedlaethol o waith y cytunwyd arni mewn ffordd effeithiol, effeithlon ac amserol. 

Un o nodweddon allweddol y swydd fydd arwain y gwaith o ymgysylltu â phobl sy'n defnyddio gwasanaethau gofal cymdeithasol a gofalwyr.

Bydd Rheolwyr Arolygu yn atebol i uwch-reolwr. Bydd ganddynt swyddogaeth hanfodol bwysig i sicrhau bod cyfrifoldebau craidd AGC yn cael eu cyflawni’n effeithiol ac yn amserol ar draws y sbectrwm llawn o waith gyda'r awdurdodau lleol.

Caiff arolygiadau eu cwblhau ledled Cymru.

• Cymhwyster gofal cymdeithasol cydnabyddedig, megis diploma mewn gwaith cymdeithasol (neu gymhwyster Gofal Cymdeithasol Cymru cyfatebol), cymhwyster nyrsio neu ofal perthynol i iechyd, cymhwyster dysgu neu addysg i lefel gradd a diploma Lefel 5 mewn Arweinyddiaeth ar gyfer Iechyd a Gwasanaethau Cymdeithasol (neu gyfwerth ym maes addysg) a'r gallu i ddangos perthnasedd y cymhwyster hwn i'r rôl.  
• Profiad ôl-gymhwyso perthnasol o wasanaethau ar gyfer oedolion, pobl hŷn neu blant.
