A London-based international charity is seeking a Head of Programme Quality & Assurance role to join the organisation on a full-time and permanent basis. The position reports to the Deputy Director, Humanitarian Policy and Practice and will be a central role in the organisation's redefined organisational strategy.

Purpose of the role:

The role oversees the management of all institutional funding and grants received by the charity, and is responsible for effectual implementation, risk management and compliance of all the charity's international programmes. Furthermore the post holder will set the strategic direction of these activities through out the organisation so as to ensure programme quality.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Provide excellent leadership and strategic direction on the programme quality and assurance strategy across global teams; as well as play a central role in the continual development of systems and processes.
  • Lead the development and growth of a new programme quality & assurance team aimed at improving the quality of programme learning and quality of institutionally-funded grants.
  • Provide principle oversight of contract management and programme learning including the overseeing all grants, tenders and institutional funding.
  • Pro actively identify and pursue high valuer external relations so as to raise the charity profile and secure funding in order to strengthen programme learning and efficiency of operations.

Applicants will be expected to demonstrate the following competencies:

  • Extensive experience of managing institutional funding grants in the International Development sector and managing large donor grants.
  • Extensive in-field project management experience in the humanitarian sector.
  • Experience of direct line management responsibilities and demonstrable leadership experience.
  • Track record of managing relationships and successful negotiations with institutional partners.
  • Those with fluency in a second language dominant in the Global South are particularly encouraged to apply (e.g. French, Portuguese, Arabic)
  • Educated to at least a postgraduate level.
