Governance Vacancies - Members, Non-Executive Directors and Governors.

Lydiate Learning Trust is a Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) which currently has two secondary schools, a Studio school (for ages 14-19) and a large teacher training centre known as the AMP SCITT (Associated Merseyside Partnership, School Centred Initial Teacher Training).  The Trust is also a strategic partner in the Holy Rosary Teaching School Alliance which spans both the Primary and Secondary sectors.

Current Opportunities

We are about to embark on a period of significant growth and are looking to expand to include more Primary and Secondary schools and enhanced SCITT provision. To do this we need the right number of Members, Non-Executive Directors and Governors with the necessary knowledge and skills. In return you will get the opportunity to work with accomplished Directors, give back to education and local communities and to enhance your own CV.  For the Member and Non-Executive Director roles, the Trust is looking for applicants with a proven track record of strategic leadership and experience of governance.

  • Member (3 posts)

Our Members determine the ethos and purpose of the Trust, are able to alter its Articles of Association and to appoint (or remove) Non-Executive Directors (Trustees) where necessary. They review the Directors Annual Report and Accounts and provide strategic, independent oversight to the work of the Board of Directors in order to ensure suitable accountability for its decision making and strategy. The time commitment for these roles is approximately 18 hours per year including preparation time. Members are currently expected to attend one meeting per term.

Non-Executive Director (Trustee) (3 posts)

Our Non-Executive Directors are both charity trustees and company directors of the Trust; their role is to hold to account the Executive Head Teacher and Senior Leadership Team. The Board manages the business of the Trust and may exercise all the powers of the Trust. The Directors ensure compliance with the Trust’s charitable objectives and with company and charity law and are responsible for providing clarity, vision and strategic direction. They contribute to development of strategic goals, ensuring the interests of children and local communities are top of the agenda, and ensure the highest standards of educational provision across all our schools. The time commitment for these roles is

4-6 hours per month (on average) including preparation time - though the board meets bi-monthly.

The location of Member and Board Meetings is currently Deyes High School, Deyes Lane, Maghull. ●Governors (for current vacancies and wait list)

Dedicated to school development & improvement our Governors work in partnership with our school management teams and make important decisions related to the running of our schools particularly in relation to curriculum provision, pupil targets, school development plans, budget management, staffing, health and safety and management of premises. They act as a source of supportive challenge – a critical friend.  If you have skills and experience in marketing, financial management, HR, or strategic business planning and have approximately 20 hours per term to be able to make a real difference to the education and life outcomes of young people in our area, then we would love to hear from you. We currently have local Boards of Governors in Childwall, Wavertree and Maghull.

Please note that all these posts are all voluntary, unpaid positions. Applications

If you are interested in applying for one of the roles please send your CV and a covering email - by no later than 9.00am on Friday 4th May 2018, clearly indicating which post you are interested in.

A Trust application form will then be sent to you for completion and return by the closing date - 9.00am Monday 14th May 2018.

We look forward to hearing from you.
