People & Culture (HR) Business Partner
People and Culture (HR) Business Partner
Portbury (Bristol) with European travel
Many companies won't do in 5 years, what we're about do in 12 months.
That's a pretty bold statement. But we believe it's true.
Because 12 months ago we looked like a very different business to who we are now. And we're not slowing down.
European growth is our ambition. To treble the size of our European business in 3 years. With much of the change needed to achieve this, happening in the next year.
It might feel like a risk to take on a 12-month contract. But when you look back, think about the story you'll be able to tell. Imagine how much more attractive your CV will look. Your future prospects look a little brighter, right? They might even be with us.
Who we are
We're the European region of a global gases business with significant private equity backing.
We have a market leading position and are growing globally. Our aim is to be the dominant player in reclamation refrigerants.
Less than 12 months ago we made our first European acquisition of a business in the Netherlands. Our next acquisition is imminent. Which means huge opportunity for the people in our business. People like you.
Our People & Culture Business Partner for the UK is taking maternity leave. Good times.
She knows the business and has built great relationships with our managers. So, we have a hole in our team. We're looking for you to fill this gap. But in your own individual style. For 12 months at least.
Your goal is to help us make this a seamless transition, so that our managers feel little impact. As our business evolves they'll need your support more than ever to ensure their people are our top priority.
Alongside this we're making a multi-million-euro investment into the site we have acquired in the Netherlands. More acquisitions are imminent. So no doubt you'll support our People & Culture Business Partner in Europe to embed both our vision and a people plan that aligns with our European strategic ambitions.
In the first 90 days you're going to need to get to grips with our business, build relationships with our managers and continue to support our transition to business partner ways of working. Employee engagement is a top priority. You'll work with our Talent Acquisition lead to ensure our managers can find, engage and hire the people they need to deliver their own business goals. When they join us, you'll partner with our Talent & Development Lead to ensure we develop their capability.
Career paths will naturally open as our European growth takes hold. So whilst we are initially offering a 12-month fixed term contract, who knows what the future might hold. One thing is for sure. If you want opportunity, we can provide it.
Who you are
You'll have a degree (HR or Business preferably) or at the very least be CIPD qualified.
You'll already have worked as a HR Business Partner. We're not worried about the industry. But experience in a chemical, manufacturing or engineering environment might help you get up to speed quicker.
Your most recent experience is broad and covers the breadth of a HR generalist role. Things like resourcing, change management, organisational design, training and development and employment advice. If you've done any of this in Europe or in a merger/acquisition environment, then you'll have a head start.
Crucially you must be able to build relationships with people. This means persuading people to your point of view and often being robust, because there are certain things that simply have to be done.
Equally important is that you thrive in a medium-sized business environment. You're not joining a large corporate. Things happen at pace. Decisions are made quickly. Change happens fast. Being comfortable with this isn't quite good enough. We need you to want to work like this.
Finally, you're focused on outcomes. You join the dots between HR initiatives, the people agenda and business outcomes.
Sound like you?
Then we might just be a fit.
What we're offering
We offer a competitive starting salary. If you work hard and help us achieve our company goals, then you'll also share in the profits. Money aside, our positive working culture, emphasis on a healthy work-life balance and access to learning and development help keep our retention levels high. Plus, there's the opportunity to play a key part in our European ambition.
