Head of HS2 & Rail Division - Midlands Connect

36 hours per week

Fixed Term until 31 March 2020

We have an outstanding opportunity for an experienced, detailed and analytical rail expert to support the delivery of a wide range of varied, multi-disciplinary HS2 and rail technical work-streams, including the implementation of our flagship Midlands Connect Rail Hub.

About Us

It is an exciting time at Midlands Connect. We are the pan-Midlands partnership of local and combined authorities, local enterprise partnerships and business representatives working with the Department for Transport and its key delivery bodies. The partnership forms the transport component of the Midlands Engine, which is delivering economic growth, and improving productivity and prosperity across the region.

Together, the Midlands Connect Partnership and the Department for Transport have developed a transport strategy that identifies the major infrastructure projects needed to improve the connectivity of our region's key locations so we can help drive economic growth and power the Midlands Engine. We are also on a journey to become one of the first Sub-national transport bodies, giving the Midlands a much greater say over transport strategy and investment.

About the Role

Working with the Head of Technical Programmes, the MC HS2 & Rail Division Head will oversee the Midlands Connect strategic rail and HS2 programme. In doing so you will ensure the development of integrated, fast and efficient networks as a way of boosting economic growth and encouraging modal shift across the Midlands.

As our new Rail Division Head, you will be expected to develop and maintain close liaison with the DfT, Network Rail and key stakeholders and produce credible project progress reports and case studies where applicable. The role requires national leadership from an established individual well known and connected in the rail sector.

For informal enquiries, please contact Simon Statham, Head of Technical Programmes - 0121 214 7933
