JOB TITLE: Gap Year Assistants - Junior School
SALARY & BENEFITS: Term Time only, Competitive hourly rate
WORKING HOURS: Full Time, term time only, 37.5 hours per week, 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday - Friday. Fixed term contract from September 2018 to July 2019
THE COMPANY: We are currently working with a leading co-educational school located in the historic heart of Portsmouth.
THE ROLE: As Gap Year Assistants, you will work in an environment that promotes effective learning, supporting teaching and support staff with an exciting range of activities including art, music, sport, drama and ICT as well as the academic curriculum.
Key duties for the role of Gap Year Assistants :-
Building good relations in contacts with pupils and encouraging good standards of pupil behaviour
Supervising non-teaching areas and classes during 'wet' playtimes
Escorting pupils within and outside the premises
Helping children who need support
Preparing classroom material and making displays
Organising and maintaining the stock of materials and distributing resources
Supporting children's play activities and their development
THE CANDIDATE: The successful Gap Year Assistants will need to have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You will have the ability to develop a positive relationship with pupils. You must live within a commutable distance to Portsmouth. All appointments will be subject to an enhanced DBS check.
Key experience essential for the role of Gap Year Assistants :-
You must be able to commit to a fixed term contract from September 2018 to July 2019
Previous experience of volunteering or working with young people is desirable but not essential.
