National Minimum Wage for Under 25s
St Ives

We are looking for a confident and clear communicator to help keep the traffic flowing in St Ives. You will direct the traffic on a busy junction, being firm and clear in your instructions and able to help people get where they want to go quickly and safely.

The post holder will also help keep dogs off dog-free beaches. You will do this by talking to people and persuading them to take their pets to designated dog-walking beaches and should be prepared to carry out enforcement when needed, for which full training will be given. Occasionally, you will be asked to help with caretaking duties.

Previous experience is not essential as you will be trained by experts to do the job. What is really important for the council is finding the person with the right personality – someone who can advise motorists and dog owners tactfully and respectfully and who will stay cool under pressure.

Confidence, great communication skills, the ability to follow procedures, and a desire to want to help people are the things we think are most important about the job.

St Ives Town Council offers 21 days annual leave (pro rata) plus bank holidays.

This post is subject to a standard DBS check as the role includes the performance of powers to direct traffic, conferred by the Police.

Closing date: Thursday 26 April 2018.
