Role: Part Time Kitchen Assistant

We are currently recruiting for an experienced and enthusiastic part-time Kitchen Assistant to work alongside our nursery Cook in our busy nursery kitchen, providing nutritional, balanced, and healthy meals for children aged up to 13 years of age.  The nursery caters for up to 50 children aged birth – 4 years and our out of school club caters for up to 50 children aged 4 – 13 years.

The Kitchen Assistant role is a part time role working 21 hours per week, Monday-Friday throughout the year; hours will be discussed during interview.

Here at Ashby Day Nursery we have an excellent reputation in delivering a high quality of childcare in Ashby de la Zouch as part of a group of 3 nurseries and 3 out of school clubs operated by Swingboat Nurseries.

We are now looking for a part-time Kitchen Assistant to support our nursery Cook.

 

Kitchen Assistant Main Duties:

  • To support and assist the Nursery Cook with the preparation of freshly made, nutritionally balanced meals each day.
  • To take in to consideration the specific dietary requirements and allergies of children in our care and to help prepare suitable alternatives.
  • To keep to a specific time frame to ensure meals are prepared on time.
  • To maintain high standards of personal hygiene and personal appearance in accordance with the Company's hygiene policy.
  • To follow the guidance of, and to work closely with, the Nursery Cook and management team.
  • To maintain high levels of hygiene and cleanliness at all times.
  • To maintain our 5 star ‘Scores on the Doors’ rating.
  • To take responsibility for the preparation of meals and smooth running of the kitchen when the Nursery Cook is on holiday.
  • To be committed to the safe guarding of all children in the nursery.

 

Kitchen Assistant Necessary Skills, Qualifications and Experience:

  • Basic Food Hygiene
  • Previous catering experience
  • Robust knowledge of food hygiene, health & safety and allergy control guidelines and procedures as well as Safer Food Better Business

An Enhanced DBS will be required for this role.
