An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Director of Human Resources at the Wellcome Sanger Institute - one of the world's leading scientific research Institute's.

This influential and varied role reporting into the Chief Operating Officer, will be responsible for leading the HR team and shaping all aspects of HR strategy. Building rapport with senior partners, you will drive improvements to current HR frameworks as well as creating new initiatives that will reflect best practice and enhance overall performance.

Ensuring credibility of the HR group you will be a respected source of HR & OD knowledge and a champion for HR in the areas of partnering/advisory, succession planning and talent management, L&D, executive coaching, performance management, staff engagement, recruitment, reward and pensions.

You will provide leadership in the development and evaluation of short and long-term strategic HR planning and objectives including significant planning exercises such at the quinquennial review. You will be the project sponsor for the HR Information System, ensuring the Institute maximises the cost- impact and benefits realisation from the system and that all policies and procedures are up to date and legally compliant and communicated effectively throughout the business

Working with the Head of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) and EDI Forum you will ensure that EDI issues are a key consideration in the development and implementation of policy and processes and be responsible and accountable for delivery of key activities in the EDI strategy

Leading, mentoring and coaching senior managers to facilitate development and upskilling in others is also an essential component of the role.

You will be adaptable, with an innovative and creative approach, excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
