Summer Accommodation Assistants

Fixed term to 7th September 2018

£8.75 per hour

The Accommodation team within Facilities are offering an opportunity to work within an energetic team in a varied role, which will provide you with a multitude of skills to draw on in the future.  We are seeking to employ 9 temporary roles over the summer holiday period. This is to help turn around the accommodation ready for our summer lets and the new students arriving in September.

Whilst most of our bed spaces are based at Frenchay we also have accommodation at Glenside campus.

This is one of the busiest times of the year so candidates will need to be flexible, organised and calm to work in this busy and fast paced environment.

The role will work over the summer period starting 1st June – 7th September 2018. This post will suit applicants who ideally have no prior holiday commitment.  The hours vary from 30 to 40 hours per week and you will complete a daily time sheet. You will be paid a month in arrears and accrued holiday entitlement will be paid as part of your salary.

There will be a requirement for Saturday working during the period, prior notice will be given for these dates.

Please note this is not a desk role and you will be on your feet all day, some of the accommodation buildings have seven floors. You will work as part of a team and you will need a practical approach to tasks. You will be required amongst other duties to check wc’s, bathrooms, ovens etc. remove rubbish and student items, some of which will be “dirty”. You will also need the confidence to be able to ask cleaners for some tasks to be done again if not to the standard required.

You will need to have a flexible approach to work and be available to work every day Monday – Saturday. Briefing of daily tasks will be at 9:30 each day. If you are required to start earlier you will be informed the day before.

The closing date is Monday 23rd April and interviews are planned to take place between the 1st and 4th May.  If successful, you will be required to attend training and induction on Friday 1st June. This is compulsory.

Closing date: 23 April 2018.
