Working within a factory environment for a small family run business.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
These include wire drawing, wire crimping, wire rolling, annealing, packing but are not limited to these tasks.
1. Ability to follow Operating Procedures
2. Ability to read a micrometer and measure wire accurately
3. Ability to follow the requirements of Quality Operating procedures
4. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees and managers
Wire-drawing operator sets up and operates one or more wiredrawing machines to draw round or rod through one or series of dies to reduce its cross-sectional dimension, applying knowledge of the wire drawing machine, the working properties of metal and wiredrawing.
Studies specifications and determines setup procedures. Positions and secures specified dies in die holders. Takes redraw wire from feed reel, tapers end, and threads it through dies before securing the end of the wire onto the drawing block or onto spool which rotates and pulls
wire through dies. Operator will weld ends of separate coils together as required to increase their length, using welding equipment.
Inspects and measures drawn wire to verify conformance to specified shape, size, or electrical resistance, using measuring instruments, for example wire gauges, micrometers, and resistance testers. Documents measurements on works order cards
Previous experience is essential for this position.
