FormationZone Operations Manager

Salary:  £33,518 - £38,833 – Grade 7

and delivering the operational plan for the FormationZones on the University of Plymouth campus and across other sites, focusing on continuous development of the service.

Ensuring high volume and quality engagement for clients and that student opportunities and jobs are identified along with collaborative opportunities between the university and the business community, you will also have responsibility for ensuring that contract compliance and financial performance targets are achieved or exceeded at all times.  Whilst the role will primarily be based at the Plymouth Campus, there will also be a requirement to work across multiple locations.  In addition, the role holder will be required to work flexibly with extended working hours and travel independently between University sites as well as across the Region.

You will have an advanced working knowledge of Microsoft packages and databases and, in addition:

  • Educational attainment at further education level (or demonstrable equivalent experience);
  • Numeracy and literacy at secondary education level, (or demonstrable equivalent experience);
  • An understanding of the needs of early stage, small and medium size enterprises and a clear understanding of the services and support available to them;
  • A relevant functional/professional qualification (or working towards one) would be desirable

Your experience should comprise; working in a similar function within a private business having operational management responsibilities for a wide range of activities including client/customer acquisition; networking and building relationships leading to sales or service delivery; ability to analyse, interpret and report on data; customer liaison; independent and team working; monitoring and reporting on financial information; problem solving.

A working knowledge of Public and European funding including audit and compliance and team leadership skills would be desirable.

You will need to evidence; excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to prioritise and self-manage; people management and leadership, organisational skills and the provision of high quality service.
