Finance is responsible for the management of the University’s financial affairs. We contribute to the strategic direction of the University and provide advice and support to Governors and Senior Management. Finance also support and advise the Schools and Services within the University.

The Student Funding Team form part of Finance Operations as well as Accounts Receivable, Procurement, Cashiers and Accounts Payable.

About the role

The post holder will support the Financial Operations Manager in the day to day supervision of the Student Funding Team in the delivery of all aspects relating to the provision of administration of student bursaries, scholarships, studentships, fee waivers, hardship funding, US Loans and other funding schemes for the University in accordance with the University’s procedures, policy and regulations.

About you (requirements)

You will need to be educated to degree level or equivalent experience lead, motivate and support the Student Funding Administrators; represent Finance and the University in working groups, user groups and events relevant to the role. You will have a proactive approach towards customer service, strong IT skills, including Gmail/Outlook, Word, Excel, and database, bespoke finance systems, demonstrate strong communications (verbal and written), negotiation and problem solving skills.

You will have a basic understanding of Finance, including the ability to analyse and understand accounting processes

The role requires you to be able to prioritise your own and teams’ workload and work to tight deadlines; to be pro-active and to take the initiative when required, in particular to develop and improve systems and processes within a changing environment.

Previous experience of working within a financial operations environment, customer service, experience of using accounting/bespoke finance systems and a knowledge of the Higher Education sector would be an advantage
