This personal development company specialises in school expeditions, providing a choice of quality expeditions, lasting 2 - 4 weeks, to a number of contrasting long-haul destinations. A new opportunity has arisen within the company for an experienced Finance Manager.

The position offers part time hours and is based in Midhurst, West Sussex, although the company operates on a cloud based computing system so some home working is possible.

The Role
Working in the small team and reporting to the MD this role is varied and covers a broad remit of finance duties supporting the business. As Finance Analyst/Controller you will analyse every day financial activities and subsequently provide advice and guidance to upper management on future financial plans. The goal is to enable the company's leaders to make sound business decisions and meet the company's objectives.

Responsibilities
- Managing and updating the accounts of the firm
- Managing all invoicing, expenses and making payments for the business
- Moving the company to a new accounting system
- Putting in place controls and systems for expenses
- Managing the daily finances and reporting to directors
- Working with the directors to manage pricing
- Working with the company's accountants to prepare payroll and P&L accounts
- Preparing and submitting VAT and ATOL returns
- Helping the Managers maintain spreadsheets for monitoring costs within key departments

The Candidate
The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in commerce or industry
- The role would suit a Part Qualified (CIMA, ACA or ACCA) Accountant
- Detail oriented and passionate about the role; enjoy working to a target of 100% accuracy
- Bright, keen, proactive self-starter with a passion for improving systems and processes
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Logical thinker with good problem-solving abilities
- Hard working, organised and efficient
- Able to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used
- A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles
- Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations
- Enjoy being part of a small supportive team.

Essential skills
- Excellent Excel skills - experience of building spreadsheets, enjoying the process of ensuring that they are well-designed, understand the scope of Excel to improve process efficiency.

Benefits
The position is for 25-30 hours per week within the core hours of 09:00-17:00. The role would suit someone looking to use their financial management experienced in a part time, flexible role. The salary for this position would be up to £35,000 full time equivalent, pro-rata for part-time hours plus inclusion in the company bonus scheme. Holiday entitlement will be 22 working days + bank holidays (pro-rata). The company also runs a staff perk scheme.
