A great opportunity has arisen for a Communications Officer for an international welfare charity in order to promote and communicate the charity's work and services to the stakeholder groups; working within the social media strategy to maximise potential reach; to manage the website; manage fundraising campaigns; be a brand guardian and write and produce supporter marketing and media materials.
Key Responsibilities will include:
Responsible for coordinating, writing and editing supporter publicity and marketing materials - researching, writing, commissioning and editing content, and supporting the production process from concept to distribution.
Be responsible for sourcing relevant material for and liaising with an external agency on the production of a supporter and corporate newsletter and e-newsletters
Be responsible for liaising on a day-to-day basis with an external agency, providing case studies and stories in support of the production of a newsletter.
Act as website editor, responsible for keeping content and imagery fresh, topical and up-to-date sourcing and originating stories, commissioning and editing colleagues' content, and uploading text and images to keep the website updated.
In order to apply you should have the following skills and experience:
A high level of communications experience, preferably in the not for profit sector, maritime industry or church environment.
Ability to edit and proofread to a high level of accuracy (E)
Experience of setting up and maintaining websites/blogs and social networking sites including Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn etc. (E)
Fluency in IT systems Word and Outlook. (E), Excel (D)
Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud Photoshop/InDesign would be an advantage. (D)
Empathy with the work and purpose of the charity
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, producing accurate work
Excellent time-management skills
Ability to work proactively, undertake multiple tasks and use own initiative
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends. The role may require occasional UK and international travel
Team player - prepared to support the requirements of the wider team with specific expertise
Excellent client service ethic and personal presentation
