Communications and Engagement Specialist
Salary range: £33,525 - £37,738 + excellent benefits
Hours: 36 per week
Contract type: permanent

The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is a strategic authority working with partners to deliver a stronger West Midlands, with a focus on skills, innovation, transport, economic development and regeneration. Individual Councils and Local Enterprise Partnerships will still deliver services and retain their identity but on the big decisions we will have the resources to work together.

This is an exciting time for the West Midlands - the Commonwealth Games will be here in 2022, the arrival of HS2 will help make us a world class business location and a new £350m housing deal aims to deliver 215,000 new homes by 2031.

Against a backdrop of a uniquely challenging and evolving environment, we are looking for the right people to ensure we can meet the demands of delivering an ambitious agenda that aims to build a healthier, happier, better connected and more prosperous West Midlands. All our roles truly have an impact on the whole of our region.

The transport network is undergoing unprecedented levels of investment with improvements to create additional capacity on the network including the delivery of HS2 into the region with two new stations in Solihull and Birmingham. As well as HS2 there are extensions and new lines on the metro network, the delivery of the largest bus rapid transit system in the UK as well as a number of road and rail improvements. These investments support the region's economic ambitions as set out in the WMCA Strategic Economic Plan providing access to housing, employment, and education and training.

We are now looking for an innovative and creative individual to join our Network Resilience Directorate. You will support the design and management of a comprehensive and complex multi-agency communication and engagement strategy aligned to a demand management programme aimed at reducing the impacts of travel disruption to residents, businesses and visitors as a result of this investment work.

You will also be involved in developing a communications strategy, aligned to the emerging transport plan for the Commonwealth Games spectator services, that underpins the programme of managing travel demand during major events.

As a communications and marketing expert, you will be experienced in delivering communications projects with our partners, which maximise usage of various media resources.

To succeed in this role, you will be a driven, creative individual who can make and sustain key relationships with partners and stakeholders from all areas and can think more broadly about wider outcomes that helps improve the quality of life for people.

In return for your hard work and commitment, we will reward you with a range of competitive and attractive benefits.

To apply for this role, please click below and you will be emailed to let you know how to continue your application.

Closing Date: Sunday, 29 April 2018
Interviews held: 16/17 May 2018
