The Customer Innovation Lab is a Presales team who innovates the way SAP connects customers to products by creating personalized, innovative and engaging end-to-end buying experiences for EMEA North strategic customers. As such, it supports SAP's strategy to be the most innovative cloud company powered by SAP HANA.

Account teams traditionally have a strong focus on viability and on functions, features and technology i.e. on feasibility. When it comes to innovative solutions it is absolutely key to focus on desirability. The Senior UX Designer will be the advocate of desirability in strategic sales cycle towards the customer and the account team. He/she orchestrates, designs and delivers the best in class UI/UX strategy for customer product demonstrations. He/she is customer-facing and has a direct impact on sales cycles and participates in the sales cycle as a member of the virtual account team in support of the sales account strategy. He/she also acts as an evangelist internally towards the account teams and the sales teams at large and as a multiplier and an enabler for the presales organization.

In this role, the Senior Software UX Designer will get a chance to work with the largest EMEA North customers on the most strategic opportunities, to develop a unique blend of technical skills, creativity and customer-centricity and to gain exposure and expand his/her network and personal brand within and outside of SAP.


The Customer Innovation Lab Senior Software UX Designer is responsible for the high level of quality of the UX of the mockups and prototypes delivered by the Customer Innovation Lab. As such he/she performs the following tasks:

- Advocate the benefits of a human-centered approach and of an early focus on UX and UI in the sales cycle. Explain and detail for the customer the approach that will be used to this end. - Ensure access to the customer's end users and to the lines of business. Develop ties with the lines of business up to the Executive level. Act as a pioneer and as a trusted advisor. Involve end users in the design process to ensure rapid adoption of the proposed solution. Create a presence, a posture and bring legitimacy towards the customer as the UX designer is not here to sell but to create intimacy with the customer. - Define a UI/UX research strategy for the customer based on the initial challenge discussed with the customer, define deliverables and milestones and set up an action plan detailing activities and templates. - Collaborate with the Customer Innovation Principal and / or the Presales Lead during the observation phase with the customer. - Proactively act to understand users and market needs. Define and create tools and templates to support user research and conduct interviews to understand the end-user perspective and the customer's company culture. - Map and model the steps from the end-user perspective to understand complex business processes and the needs of the end users. - Define together with the Customer Innovation Principal and / or the Presales Lead an agenda and templates for the collaborative workshops organized with the customer. - Co-facilitate collaborative workshops with the Customer Innovation Principal and bring a UI/UX lens to the discussions through appropriate tools and questioning to gain an intimate

understanding of the customer's end-user experience and to support the customer in reflecting on these aspects and defining use cases. - Define a UI/UX design strategy for the customer based on the outcomes of the observation phase, of the user research and of the collaborative workshops including all the activities needed to define and execute on a simple, innovative and useful UI/UX for the end users. - Collaborate with the Enterprise Architect to ensure desirability and viability but also feasibility. - Execute on the UX/UI design strategy and create best-in-class UI/UX design for the mockups and prototypes built by the Customer Innovation Lab using BUILD and/or other UI/UX design tools. - Manage, if any, the design agencies and/or internal stakeholders involved in the execution of the UI/UX design strategy. - Present the UI/UX design strategy back to the customer stakeholders and end users and create and manage interactive prototypes and use case simulations. Gather customer feedbacks and iterate in rapid cycles. - Document the final UI/UX strategy and ensure an exhaustive and qualitative handover to the delivery teams.

The Customer Innovation Lab Senior Software UX Designer is also the champion of good UX internally. As such he/she performs the following tasks:

- Define a strategy and an action plan to raise awareness amongst Sales teams about the benefits for the customer and the ROI and differentiator it represents for SAP of excellent UI/UX design and about the importance of tackling the topic very early in the sales cycle. Act as a thought leader / an advocate of the topic towards the EMEA North sales teams. - Define a strategy and an action plan to raise awareness around UI/UX design beyond technology and develop a user/human-centered design mindset and to maximize the UI/UX skills and capabilities in the EMEA North Presales team. - Build an enablement plan around UI/UX design for the EMEA North Presales. Deliver trainings and coordinate internal and third-party trainers. - Create a communications plan on the impact of UI/UX design on the business and ensure the spreading of success stories in Sales and Presales and at management level. - Create and moderate an EMEA North Presales community around UI/UX topics to support Presales on a daily basis, foster exchanges on tools, projects and further reuse and scaling and develop and support a design culture in Presales. Act as the SPOC on UI/UX topics for EMEA North Presales and orchestrate UI/UX internal and external stakeholders such as Global Presales, P&I teams, partners.


- Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Science in Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Media or Industrial Design. A Master degree with a double competency in engineering and humancomputer interaction is preferred. - Outstanding written and verbal communication skills in English are a must. - Proven ability to interact and coordinate with cross-functional and virtual/remote/international teams.

The ideal candidate must present a mix of capabilities. He/she should present a profile combining UI/UX design skills, a good understanding of B2B business processes and a solid business acumen.

- Experience in UX Design (via multiple platforms and contexts such as iOS, Android, web, software, or other media)

- Good understanding of ergonomics and of fundamental visual design disciplines (typography, iconography, composition, color, layout, etc.) - Proficiency with industry tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Sketch, Balsamiq, MS Visio, Axure, Hi-rise, Adobe XT. Adobe After Effects would be also nice to have. - Knowledge of HTML, CSS, Web Dynpro, Web Client UIF and SAP UI5 are beneficial. Experience with Xcode and Android is not required, but highly preferred. Ability to write clear, structured and detailed specifications. - Meticulous sense of detail and ability to seek out simple solutions to complex design challenges. - Always approach a project from multiple angles, with a creative-out of the box design approach who can deliver on a variety of solutions. Ability to simplify and make design accessible.

- Ability to research, understand and map the stakeholders of the business process at hand. - Good understanding of B2B processes and software processes with an ability to translate them into end-user experiences. - Experience creating highly detailed annotated wireframes, user flows, and process flows using tools such Proto.io, Sketch or InVision. - Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines and to prototype rapidly to allow multiple iterations with the users in a short time-frame. - Excellent project management skills and of SCRUM / Agile methodologies. - Experience in facilitating large workshops with employees and stakeholders from all levels of the corporate ladder. - Sales mindset and sensitivity to feasibility and viability beyond desirability and an ability to contribute to building business cases. - Management and communications skills to champion and motivate a community of Presales around UX/UI design.
