Project Accountant - Investment Programme
Salary: £37,738 - £42,472 per annum
Hours: 36 hours per week (permanent)
Location: Birmingham

The West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA) is a strategic authority working with partners to deliver a stronger West Midlands, with a focus on skills, innovation, transport, economic development and regeneration. Individual councils and Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) will still deliver services and retain their identity but on the big decisions we will have the resources to work together.

This is an exciting time for the West Midlands - the Commonwealth Games will be here in 2022, the arrival of HS2 will help make us a world class business location and a new £350m housing deal aims to deliver 215,000 new homes by 2031.

Against a backdrop of a uniquely challenging and evolving environment, we are looking for the right people to ensure we can meet the demands of delivering an ambitious agenda that aims to build a healthier, happier, better connected and more prosperous West Midlands. This truly is a role that will have an impact on the whole of our region.

Corporate Services ensures that effective support is given across all activities of the WMCA, including our Investment Programme, in addition to supporting all Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) projects and programmes.

We are now looking for a Project Accountant to join the Corporate Services Finance Team.

To be successful in this role, you will have strong experience of financially supporting the delivery of large capital schemes which are funded by a variety of public and private sources with multiple internal and external stakeholders, and be able to evidence added value through a logical and commercial approach to problem solving. In addition, you will be confident in consolidating information from a number of sources and producing clear and concise management information to strict deadlines.

You will be CAAB qualified and will have excellent interpersonal skills to liaise with senior managers internally/externally and have the ability to prioritise and manage your work through a proactive approach. You will be required to demonstrate a track record of best practice financial management.

In return for your hard work and commitment, we will reward you with a range of competitive and attractive benefits.
