A specialist school offering high quality education and care for young people with a wide range of special educational needs is currently looking for an enthusiastic Forest Teacher/tutor to join a positive and supportive teaching team.

The role of the Forest Teacher/Tutor is to undertake teaching commitments within a Forest Class (a class of learners with sensory needs, communication needs and operating between P4 and P8) and be pastorally responsible for the learners as a tutor. You will be working in a team but there are specific roles and responsibilities attached to this post:

*To have detailed knowledge and understanding of pupils' National Curriculum; of the learner profile and support their needs and learning styles.

*To plan effectively to meet the needs of pupils' Special Educational Needs and make an appropriate contribution to the preparation, implementation, monitoring and review of Individual Education Plans.

*Ensure effective teaching and management of whole classes, groups and individuals so that teaching objectives are met, momentum and challenge are maintained, and best use is made of teaching time.

*Use a range of appropriate and effective assessment methods that provide accurate reflections of learners' ability, accounting for specific learning difficulties and the impact of a range of diagnoses.

*Liaise effectively with pupil's parents/carers through informative oral and written reports on pupil progress and achievements, discussing appropriate targets, and encouraging them to support their child's learning, behaviour and progress.

The role is based in Seaford and is a job share for three days per week term time only - The starting salary is £24,329 for the full time role, but as it is a three day a week job the starting salary is £14,597

The hours are 8 - 16 on those three days.

To be considered for this job you must have experience working as teacher with leaning difficulties in a SEN environment.

The successful candidate will also need a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) qualification.

You will be required to provide 2 referees (one must be your most recent employer) and undertake an enhanced DBS Disclosure. This process forms part of our recruitment and safeguarding policy.
