About Us: 

Blue Cross are one the UK’s leading rehoming organisations for animals. We support sick, injured and homeless pets and care for more than 40,000 animals every year through our rehoming, veterinary and education programmes. 

Now, we’re looking for a Head of Finance to oversee all aspects of finance and provide management to the Finance Team.

The Role: 

As the Head of Finance, you will be tasked with ensuring the financial health of our organisation and managing the day-to-day operation of the Finance Team. 

Ensuring the team meets and exceeds targets, you will develop individual team members’ capabilities to further ensure that Blue Cross’ requirements are met. 

Your role will also involve: 

- Delivering accurate financial and management accounts 
- Overseeing annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting 
- Preparing statutory accounts for Blue Cross and two trading subsidiaries 
- Acting as the main point of contact for internal and external Auditors, investment advisors and insurers 
- Preparing all board-related papers 
- Leading the development strategy for the Finance Department 
- Identifying and driving cost saving measures 

About You: 

To join us as the Head of Finance, you will need: 

- To be ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified 
- Significant experience in a financial leadership role 
- Business awareness and commercial acumen 
- Demonstrable knowledge of the practical application of VAT and Gift Aid rules 
- Proven people management skills, an excellent team player mentality and the ability to lead, motivate and develop teams 
- Demonstrated commitment to change and continuous improvement 
- The ability to develop innovative ways to improve service delivery in area of responsibility and to work under pressure to achieve tight timescales 
- Experience in setting, controlling and managing budgets 
- Experience in performance reporting
