Role Overview:
Highways is the largest of five business units that make up the Galliford Try Infrastructure Division. It delivers projects for national and local clients.

This team has expanded in recent times because of a successfully delivering work for Highways England and a re-structuring of the business and now includes operations for Highways England, Local Authorities and Highways Maintenance.
Our Highways Maintenance team has a strong and ever-growing portfolio of works within the Yorkshire/North East region, successfully delivering work for YorCivils, East Riding of Yorkshire, North Yorkshire County Council and Hull City Council.
This role will be working within our team dedicated to projects, comprising of various road build, improvement and construction projects ranging from GBP1-GBP25M in value.
As Sub Agent, you will report into the Site Agent and support in the progress and performance of all aspects of project delivery and management on either a single large project or several small schemes. You will also contribute and be involved in the pre-construction progress, supporting the bid, contract and commercial management team within the business unit.


Key Accountabilities:
Health Safety and Environmental
?? Establish, Maintain and enforce compliance with the current safety legislation and the Company's Health Safety and Environmental Policies.
?? Appraise the risk to all company property under your control and install security levels commensurate to the relative values.
?? Encourage and lead the Challenging Beliefs Affecting Behaviours initiative
?? Ensure the site fulfils all obligations for external compliance audits
?? Ensure Permit to Work systems, Inductions and Briefings are correctly carried out

Quality
?? Maintain the culture whereby everyone is continually seeking to satisfy customer requirements.
?? Ensure systems are in place and used in order that quality of work is to the prescribed contractual and national standards.
?? Monitor the capability of staff and contractors to undertake current and prospective workloads and report to site management.
?? Identify \ Assist to introduce new processes, techniques and innovations on site
?? Monitor and record individual / contractor performances encouraging and disciplinary as and when necessary.
?? Ensure the site fulfils all obligations for external compliance audits
Site Management
?? Plan and co-ordinate the section(s) of project as allocated.
?? Ensure the correct administering of the Contractual Processes
?? Ensure all design and approvals processes are controlled and fulfilled
?? Oversee the day to day construction processes and ensure co-ordination within the site team, client and contractors
?? Attend external meetings with and maintain necessary regular contact with clients and stakeholders.
?? Co-ordinate and control initial set up including installing Company systems and procedures.
?? Control and monitor the planning and progress of the works
?? Administer the cost forecast, valuation and reporting systems, maximise cash flow and profitability
?? Implement strict financial controls on subcontractors, suppliers and operatives
?? Post contract, organise and co-ordinate the undertaking of maintenance work
?? Ensure full participation in staff development review, training and mentoring
?? Ensure the timely reporting of information in line with internal company and external client requirements
?? Manage the project procurement process for suppliers and contractors in line with the divisional processes and commercial best practise.

Marketing / Procurement
?? Establish and maintain links with clients and their advisers.
?? Build long term relationships with Joint Venture Partners, contractors and other key stakeholders

Experience and Qualifications:
  • Minimum of HND (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering
  • Must have Civil Engineering experience gained with a civil engineering main contractor rather (UK or overseas)
  • Highway experience with main contractor is a distinct advantage
  • CSCS Managers Category
  • SMSTS
  • Temporary works experience preferable
