We are on the search for a Customer Support Engineer to sit within the Technical Support Department of a global manufacturing and testing company. What we need is an exceptional engineer who is looking to settle into a stable role but still wants an interesting job and enjoys speaking to people. Maybe someone who is looking for a dynamic engineering role but not quite sure on the direction to go in? If this is you, read on; we might have something a little more exciting than the run of the mill role!

This really is an exciting role, whereby ultimately you will be expected to provide practical assistance to internal and external customers alike as well as distributors and various departments within the company. You will use your technical knowledge gained through an Engineering degree or years or experience to respond to queries both over the phone and via email, therefore excellent verbal and written communication is essential.

Additional responsibilities would include; doing presentations for training, writing technical papers, demonstrating and testing products. Whilst technical bias is essential, training will be provided and a strong contender for this role will need to have not only the technical ability, but the confidence and professionalism to speak with clients as well.

The role will involve regular but not frequent International travel so you will need to be able to work away from home for a few weeks at a time over two or three times a year.

We are looking for a true team player with a strong work ethic who can happily work in a small team for a large organisation and is very personable. The ability to build rapport with others and isnt daunted by meeting customers and talking through and resolving issues with equipment is critical. We also require a person who is happy to undertake worldwide travel and represent the business and products in a professional and friendly manner.

Main duties to include:

-Support and advise customers and other third parties on technical issues with equipment
-Dealing with telephone, email and face to face queries/technical issues
-Build and develop excellent product knowledge
-Support different stakeholders with product training
-Support the Research and Development team by providing constructive feedback on new products
-Assist with the testing of and reporting upon customers products
-Record and ensure up to date customer data
-Occasional visit to customer sites would be required (including customers based overseas)
-Attending relevant trade shows

We are looking for:

-Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in chemical, electrical/electronic or mechanical engineering OR plenty of experience in a technical/engineering role with exceptional people skills and a desire to move into a customer support role
-Experience with electronic and mechanical equipment would be advantageous
-Knowledge of electrical/electronic/chemical/mechanical principles required (either through experience or qualification) is needed
-An excellent communicator with strong analytical and organisational skills and a methodical approach to problem solving
-Good general computer skills including MS Office (experience of using an ERP system would be advantageous)
-Ability to prioritise and manage own work load
-Show initiative and adaptability
-Hands on approach with strong practical skills
-Well presented with a positive, proactive and professional approach
-Someone who is happy to stay in a stable role with limited progression (although plenty of training will be provided)

In return you can expect:

-GBP24k-GBP30k (dependant on experience)
-8.30am to 5pm with early finish on Fridays
-23 days + stats (rising to 25 with service)
