Our client is looking for an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to work for them in a permanent staff role. The client is looking for a candidate who will be educated to a degree level and be chartered.
Purpose of the Role
To produce, manage and deliver, Electrical engineering and design work for company projects under the direction of the Manager for Electrical, Instrumentation & Control.
You will be responsible for a range of staff including Electrical Design Engineers, other discipline engineers\designers, E&I CAD Operators, Technical Clerks, Document Controllers.
Pay Scale
Permanent - Dependent on experience plus benefits.
Key Skills & Qualification Requirements
• Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred, Chartered status.
• A good understanding of 24v - 33,000v systems, and grid connections is essential.
• Electrical engineering and design experience, principally within the chemical, petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, steel and/or power industries involving LV and MV switch boards, MCC's, Power factor correction and the selection of equipment in Hazardous areas. Must have experience in LV, MV and HV design and cable calculations
• Experienced in the use of engineering software and tools, including AutoCAD and Amtech power software. Knowledge of Smartplant electrical software would be an advantage.
• Effective communication and time management
• Ability to lead a team of engineers/draughtsmen
• Ability to manage costs and schedule to tight budgets/deadlines
Main Responsibilities
• Responsible for Safety and Environmental implications of electrical engineering design
• Responsible for electrical design development in accordance with the project quality plan, and all applicable codes and legislation.
• Production and/or checking of electrical calculations.
• Generation and checking of equipment specifications, drawings and data sheets
• Responsible for the management of change control during design.
• Development and approval of all electrical engineering drawings and deliverables in accordance with company and client procedures.
• Responsible for collation of design information
• Selection and liaison with equipment suppliers
• Investigate, develop and train others in new processes and design techniques
• Manage small sized engineering projects
• Act as the main client discipline liaison during project execution
• Prepare electrical engineering person-hour estimates and manage discipline engineering budgets
• Responsible for the quality of the electrical design and all related deliverables and documentation issued during project execution
