Journalist (TV), BBC Ukrainian Service
BBC World Service is an international multimedia broadcaster, part of BBC News, delivering a wide range of language and regional services and working increasingly with other parts of BBC News to serve global audiences.
As part of an historic and exciting expansion of the BBC World Service, BBC News Ukraine is boosting its TV and digital offer to provide more mobile, and TV/video content and to further expand its social-media presence.
The expanded team will be based in the BBCs headquarters in London, working closely and collaboratively (including with colleagues in BBC News) to deliver the best service for BBC audiences.
BBC News Ukraine aims to deliver international news relevant to Ukrainian-speaking audience and to put the events in Ukraine and the wider region in a global perspective.
Joining a team of talented multimedia journalists, you will work on the first regular BBC News Ukraine TV bulletin. You will be involved in all stages of production from research and storyboarding to editing and on-air presentation.
Working with different video sources, you will cover a wide range of stories, from hard news to in-depth analysis and human-interest stories.
In this varied and exciting role you will conduct interviews, contribute to originating and commissioning stories, as well as reversioning content and creating video teasers.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will be an experienced journalist with knowledge of TV/video production techniques. You will have an engaging presentation style, a good broadcast voice and will be used to working in a live 24 hour newsroom environment.
It is essential that applicants are fluent in Ukrainian, both written and spoken.
Finally, you will have a wide and up-to-date familiarity with the areas to which the Ukrainian service broadcasts and extensive knowledge of the media situation and the way it is developing. In addition, you will have an excellent knowledge of current affairs in Ukraine and the wider region.
