We are building ASOS' next generation personalisation and recommendation platform " a unique Big Data infrastructure which will ingest and serve massive amounts of data for complex real-time processing, leveraging the latest technologies at web-scale.

As a Data Science Business Analyst at ASOS you will discover, delve into, and analyse rich data and use it to direct the decisions about the future of ASOS. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
  • Work with the technical product manager, the data scientists and various business stakeholders to identify and define the business problem and business case
  • Elicit, analyse, validate, consolidate and prioritise the high-level requirements using appropriate definition techniques
  • Communicate the specifications using appropriate documentation and modelling techniques
  • Collect and validate the non-functional requirements, including performance, implementation design, usability, security & audit, and appropriate legislative requirements
  • Lead the refinement of the requirements and business solution definition, including acceptance criteria working closely with the key stakeholders
  • Assist data scientists and product managers in designing large scale experiments to test hypotheses and drive product development forward
  • Support QA activities by ensuring acceptance criteria are well documented and have the appropriate level of coverage
  • Collaborate with the agile delivery manager and the product managers to plan post implementation assessments, benefits tracking and realisation " this includes supporting the business during warranty and ensuring that any defects or enhancement requests are well defined and prioritised appropriately
  • Work in an agile, cross functional team taking responsibility for delivering big data products
  • Be part of our Tech-wide business analysis community


KEY SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

Essential
  • Significant experience of gathering and documenting high quality business requirements, interacting with business stakeholders through workshops, interviews & meetings, and written communication
  • Proven experience of working closely with business stakeholders and IT teams to deliver robust and efficient solutions
  • Knowledge of RDBMS, ETL and Data warehouse technologies as well as NoSQL databases
  • Experience of data analysis and data profiling
  • Experience of producing data mappings from source to target
  • Understanding of big data technologies and data science concepts:
  • Experience with large datasets whether it is structured or unstructured data
  • Understanding of Data Lake, Data Preparation and Feature Generation concepts
  • Good understanding of statistics and basic understanding of machine learning and model creation


Nice to Have
  • Computer Science, Maths or similar degree
  • ISEB/BCS Business Analysis Certification
  • Exposure to cloud platforms, notably Microsoft Azure
  • Experience in retail and/or e-commerce
