STOCK/GENERAL FARM WORKER

Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC – formally SAC) is one of Europe’s leading specialist institutions in science and technology – with 1,500 staff providing education, training, research and development, advice and consultancy services to the land-based industries.
Craibstone Farm is a mixed farm which is used for practical teaching and work experience for our agricultural students. We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team aspects of farm work. Duties will include:
- Complete daily work duties in accordance to the overall priorities identified by the Farm Manager
- Assistance in all areas of sheep and cattle husbandry
- Assistance in maintaining up to date and accurate livestock records
- Occasional field operations
- Ensure that the SRUC’s policies on Health, Safety & Welfare are implemented and monitor systems of work in order to achieve a safe working environment
- Assist with practical teaching with students on the farm
Previous farm work and livestock experience is essential as is a current full, clean driving licence and the ability to operate agricultural machinery. Further education in an agricultural subject would be an advantage. The ability to work as part of a team, good communication skills and the ability to liaise with staff at all levels and students is essential.
The working hours for this post are 44 hours per week and will include weekend working.
