Senior Programme Manager

Hook, RG27 9UP (with ad hoc travel to other core sites)

GBP60,000 - GBP70,000 + up to 15% bonus per annum + excellent benefits


Here at Virgin Media (VM) we have a truly unique opportunity for an experienced Programme Manager to drive significant company-wide strategic change. This exciting new role will join VM's People Team, and will have two broad focuses. Firstly, to enable the VM Property strategy, and secondly, to provide a central view of our broader People Programmes as we transform and grow our business.

Key Accountabilities:
  • Partnering closely with key senior stakeholders and project influencers across both VM and our parent company, Liberty Global. Interaction with C-suite/Board level.
  • Working closely with People SMEs to best enable effective strategic change delivery.
  • Developing and gaining agreement of the overarching programme strategies, ensuring alignment with VM People PMO roadmap priorities.
  • Implementing and maintaining a consistent and robust project management methodology ensuring project conforms to appropriate governance including all project documentation.
  • Managing all aspects of risk, issues and contingency, identifying dependencies with other business initiatives, and managing escalations where appropriate.
  • Leading on all project communications.
  • Managing virtual teams in a matrix environment.


So what are we looking for?
  • Demonstrable experience of project management in a multi-disciplined and commercial environment - ideally with PRINCE 2, APMP or another recognised industry qualification.
  • HR programme management experience a preference but not essential.
  • Integrity. As this role will oversee high profile and highly confidential programmes of work, discretion is paramount.
  • Proven stakeholder management and negotiation skills, liaising up to board level.
  • The ability to understand and manage multiple project risks dealing with uncertainty, whilst being proactive and forward-looking.
  • Demonstrable experience of understanding and articulating broad strategic business objectives, and working within complex organisational designs.
