The Office of Intercollegiate Services (OIS) is the over-arching body responsible for supporting the activities of the principal intercollegiate committees, which help the Colleges work together on matters of common interest.

The Colleges wish to appoint a new Senior Officer, principally to act as the statutory Data Protection Officer for the 31 Colleges in the University of Cambridge, as part of their collective plans to address the immediate and ongoing requirements of the General Data Protection Regulation and associated legislation applicable to public authorities.

We are looking for someone who ideally is already a data protection practitioner and who has the ability to hold a practising certificate as a solicitor or barrister.  Applicants must have excellent communications skills and the ability to engage with staff at all levels in a higher education institution.  He or she will also have experience of engaging with board-level discussions about governance, regulatory compliance and risk.

The postholder will be an employee of the Office of Intercollegiate Services, and will be responsible to the Head of the Office. The position, which is available immediately, is 50% part-time, and for a fixed term of two years, in the first instance.  The successful candidate will need to be able to provide flexibility in terms of days and hours worked across the year.

The salary range for the post is: £50,618 - £55,297 p.a. (pro-rata) (point 57 - 60 on the University of Cambridge’s salary scale).
