SAS Engineer

Big Data Delivery team engineers BUK's complex big data platforms and online information archives to be as neat and effective as possible, delivering powerful capabilities and insights to enable success in all areas and work streams.

We are looking for a dedicated and experienced SAS Infrastructure engineer with very good IT Infrastructure skills (or experienced infrastructure engineer with very strong SAS skills) to work in a collaborative and friendly Big Data team on exciting automation deliveries, run in Agile way.

Your Role

• SAS platform installation and administration, rights management, environment security, patches and hot-fix installations, license updates, product and solution migrations
• Current SAS infrastructure review and active participation in service improvement and migration from legacy SAS platforms to SAS Grid / VA / Viya
• Design & implement data integration and Data Warehouse based solutions using SAS technologies.
• Technical implementation of business requirements & E2E designs based on system capabilities
• Good understanding of SAS data migration patterns and code converting
• Ensure the solutions being defined are reusable and follow standard design patterns and architecture principles of SAS
• Be proactive in working with the support team and identifying opportunities for service improvement
• Design and implement reusable solutions that adhere to pre-defined patterns as outlined by Portfolio Design Lead and/or Architecture teams
• Ownership of defects & work closely with Tech Lead/developers to review code & contribute as required
• Inspires confidence by making and honouring commitments, demonstrates initiative and competence

Essential Skills

• Good understanding of SAS product stack including Grid and VA
• Experience in implementing solutions using one of the SAS products
• Core programming languages: SAS language
• CI / CD toolchain knowledge would be beneficial
• Exposure to one or more additional technologies in the Data Warehouse area namely Hadoop, Ab Initio, Informatica or Teradata.
• Understanding of long term benefits coming from fully automated development and release workflows

Desirable Skills

• CI / CD toolchain knowledge would be beneficial
• Knowledge of TDD and BDD practices
• Platform knowledge of various DB products:
• SAS Grid / VA / Viya
• Maria DB
• Mongo
• Cassandra
• Hadoops
