Process Engineering Manager

Universal Steels and Aluminium Limited, a supplier to the global aerospace industry, currently have a following vacancy at their Bolton facility:

Process Engineering Manager
The Bolton site is certified to AS9100 and AS9120 and is mainly involved in the manufacture of sheet metal components with processes including rubber and brake press forming, heat treatment, tensile, conductivity and hardness testing, dry blasting, surface treatment, surface protection and part marking, as well as penetrant flaw detect and assembly of machined components. Reporting to the Project Director this position is based in Bolton and primarily involves duties performed at the Bolton site, but includes responsibility for supporting related activity at other group sites within the UK. Candidates will be educated to degree level or equivalent and have a proven manufacturing background within Aerospace surface and protective treatments.

Main Duties to include:

• Management of chemical processes to ensure compliance with customer and Nadcap requirements
• Review drawings and specifications to assist in quotation process
• Ensure manufacturing processes meet customer and regulatory requirements, liaise with customers as required and participate in process audits
• Planning for new parts, changes in planning and promoting efficient work flow
• Qualification of new processes and equipment
• Flow down of requirements to shop floor through simple straightforward procedure
• Continuous improvement of processes and reduction of non-added value activity
• Participate in improvement of the Quality Management System
• Ensure Quality requirements are met for transfer of work, and executed in a timely manner
• Process Engineering for new product introduction: advanced quality planning, manufacturing route, qualification, FMEA, inspection plan and key characteristics
• Use recognised methods to identify root cause in case of customer complaint or non-conformance
