Automation Technician

Magnetic is working with a fast-growing manufacturer to recruit an experienced Automation Technician with Customer focus and commercial awareness, to achieve departmental objectives and performance targets by safely and effectively undertaking duties, 80% of which will be focused on continuous improvement, 20% carrying out routine planned and unplanned maintenance for all equipment. A driving licence is essential as the role involves visiting suppliers. A good mix of automation and maintenance experience is required for this role
Some Key Responsibilities:
• Apply problem solving and continuous improvement techniques to recommend and implement automation improvements to maximise equipment availability, performance, reduce repetitive operator tasks, improve quality and reduce waste.
• Planning and delivering corrective and reactive work
• Attend breakdowns to factory equipment, site services and facilities ensuring that permanent fix is made to standard
Person Specification - Automation Technician
ESSENTIAL
• Possession of ONC or equivalent in a relevant discipline
• Full driving licence
• Completed apprenticeship (NVQ Level 3) in appropriate engineering discipline
• Experience working within a processing, manufacturing or similar environment
• Knowledge of electrical control and safety systems with a logical approach to fault finding
• Experience of PLC programming, able to make minor modifications to ladder logic
• Experience of variable speed motor control systems. Inverter / DC drive
DESIRABLE
• Worked in a multi skilled role
• Knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Knowledge of Root Cause Analysis techniques
• Knowledge of CMMS systems, purpose and functionality
• Good understanding of a proactive maintenance strategy and condition monitoring
Hours of work: Mon-Thurs 8.30am-5pm, Fri 8.30am-2.30pm, 37.5 hours p/w
