With the Sentinels and other satellite platforms delivering Earth observation data at an unprecedented rate there is a significant commercial opportunity to derive value added information for clients, as well as maximising these resources for the benefit of humanity. As part of its growth strategy the SCISYS Space Division has successfully secured contracts in the Earth observation downstream market and is currently bidding for additional work in a variety of markets.

Given this overall trend within the space sector, it is an excellent opportunity for a Junior Earth Observation / Remote Sensing Engineer to join the team in a growing and significant area of the business for SCISYS.

Fusing our previous work in data and image processing, machine learning and data analytics gives SCISYS the tools, processes and platform upon which to deliver the information clients desire from space borne data. We wish to recruit a Junior Earth Observation / Remote Sensing Engineer to be based at our Bristol office in the UK and join our energetic, enthusiastic and ambitious EO Applications team.

The Role
The role of the Junior Earth Observation Engineer is to support current and future research and development projects, as well as contributing to project delivery.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
* Supporting the development of prototype products using SAR and optical data
* Supporting the design of and transition to automated workflows
* Providing technical support to the bidding process
* Building awareness of evolving and innovative EO and GIS technologies and techniques

Requirements:
This is a superb opportunity for an individual to join a dynamic and supportive business. The successful candidate will demonstrate the following:
* A qualification in Environmental Science, Remote Sensing, Physical Geography, Computer Science, Physics or related fields with experience of remote sensing.
* Demonstrable experience in data processing of space borne Earth Observation data.
* Experience of data calibration and preparation.
* Awareness and experience in the exploitation of image processing techniques, using industry-leading software such as, for example, Envi, Sentinel Toolboxes, QGIS, etc.
* Knowledge and experience of SAR and optical sensors would be an advantage.
* Some programming experience (e. Python, IDL) would be an advantage.
* Self-starter with initiative and a strong motivation to succeed.
* Professional and positive approach, with an ability to work well with others in a flexible and supportive environment, full of opportunity.
* Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
* Willingness to travel when required to customer sites.

Candidates need to be eligible to work in the UK and able to obtain security clearance if required.
