Job title: Head Chef
Salary: Up to 37,000 GBP
Location: Oxford
Type of contract: Permanent
Workplace description: This peaceful, elegant hotel with a country-manor style is a 10-minute walk from Oxford city centre. It has a restaurant and bar, a cosy lounge, and pleasant guest bedrooms. The recently refurbished Victorian building has very friendly, helpful staff and free on-site parking. Guests can relax in the Mediterranean-style courtyard garden. The restaurant provides a relaxed, attractive setting for dining, bar snacks and afternoon tea. Breakfast features a range of different, tasty items.
Main duties and responsibilities: Running of the kitchen on a day to day basis.
Lead and inspire the brigade to ensure the kitchen runs smoothly at all times
Help develop the junior chefs.
Ensure consistency of produce throughout the kitchen. Build good relations with suppliers
To ensure product ordering management at all times
Supervise service ensuring presentation of food is compliant with restaurant standards.
Menu compilation and development and possess an in depth knowledge of the costings.
Ensure targets are met for labour and food costs.
Compliance with all food safety standards.
Essential criteria: Have previous experience working in a similar role, to at least 1 rosette.
Demonstrate excellent communication and influencing skills.
Be able to work effectively as part of a team whilst undertaking a leadership role.
Identify ways to improve profitability.
Be able to demonstrate an up to date and in depth understanding of the industry.
Continually strive to achieve personal goals and objectives.
Lead by example and offer clear direction to team.
Be uncompromising in achieving company standards.
Communicate relevant business information regularly, efficiently and concisely to their team.
Builds effective and constructive relationships
Accommodation provided: Temporarily, until alternative accommodation is found
Charge for accommodation: Negotiable
