Job Description

Our client is a luxury, 70 bedroom, 5 star hotel in Berkshire. We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join the team.

As technical specialist you will manage repairs, either in person or through subcontractors, respond to daily engineering issues and perform proactive routine maintenance and equipment inspection, being fully aware of Health and Safety legislation.

Main Duties:

  • Provide engineering expertise and services across the hotel to enable a 24/7 operation
  • Liaise with the Housekeeping and Engineering Coordinator to prioritise jobs and provide feedback on status of repairs and time required to perform the job.
  • Act as a rapid response resource to reported faults and emergency situations
  • Participate in engineering projects and installations
  • Perform planned preventative maintenance and proactive routine equipment inspection to ensure minimal down time of operational equipment
  • Conduct routine equipment checks in guest rooms and conduct routine repairs and touch ups to meet technical requirements and Hotel service goals
  • Assess and identify any complex or potential technical maintenance or operating issues in Guest rooms, and report to Head of Engineering
  • Offer support and advise to floor teams for fault diagnosis in technical equipment/systems, to ensure effective operation and minimal disruption
  • Ensure the effective operation of all technical equipment in designated area
  • Operate all equipment in a safe and effective manner and ensure compliance to relevant legislative and health and safety requirements
  • To act as a team player and provide effective day-day communication with Floor team and other Hotel colleagues in order to provide exceptional engineering services
  • Manage the logistics of working across 240 acres
  • Support in the maintenance of staff accommodation

Requirements:

  • ONC/HNC or City and Guilds Building Services or alternatively in mechanical and/or electrical engineering
  • Ideally have served as an electrical or mechanical apprenticeship
  • Good working experience of building services and controls (mechanical and electrical)
  • Knowledge of BMS controls and heating and air conditioning equipment
  • Basic understanding of legislative requirements e.g. Health and Safety, understanding of risk and method statements
  • Working knowledge of general equipment functioning to include:
  • Basic plumbing, painting; carpentry, electrical, TV controls;
  • Heating and air conditioning equipment
  • Problem solving ability
  • Previous experience across general trade area e.g plumbing; carpenter, painting
  • Experience working in a maintenance environment in Hospitality Operation is preferred
  • Good communication Skills at all levels
